About

Heatwaves

Not many are aware of the fact that heatwaves are one of the most dangerous natural disasters. This is because the deaths that occur due to heatwaves are hard to differ and marked as unknown deaths. In the United States alone, there are more than 1,300 deaths per year.

Heatwaves are quite common in some countries such as the US, but they are worst in Urban areas where there are less trees and more concrete and asphalt. In recent years heatwaves are becoming more common and more intense. If a person is not well prepare for this natural disaster, they may suffer heat strokes, heat exhaustion, blood clots, dehydration, or death. For those who are in the older age range, children, and people with chronic disorders are more likely to die from this disaster.

Many of us don't experience the serious effects of climate change as much as some countries and regions do. It is understandable that we don't feel like we are in danger. This is due to temporal discounting, where we over value short term benefits.

The point of this project is to remind people of the dangers of heatwaves as well as all other climate change effected issues. Solving issues caused by climate change also involves sacrifice that some may find hard to change. The way to deal with this is to confront the issue head on and set some strong values.
